Debra Lachter (Alcohol Inks Expert Artist)

Bio and Alcohol Ink description for Alcohol Ink presentation to Tallahassee Watercolor Society

Debra Sue Lachter began her art journey after an earlyretirement from teaching elementary school. In her early years of raising two daughters, Debra danced in a semi-professional dance company and taught Creative Movement to young children.  No longer dancing, Debra found a creative outlet she is passionate about: creating art. Her first love is watercolor but she happily creates with many other mediums including visual journaling, collage, acrylic and alcohol ink. Debra says that Alcohol Inks give her the freedom to let go and enjoy the process without any expectations.

Alcohol Inks are dye based, vibrant pigments that are used on non-porous surfaces such as, glass, ceramic, glossy paper and Yupo, a synthetic paper.  Alcohol ink has been around for a while and originally was used in scrapbooking. It’s has only been used in fine art creation for a relatively short time. Creating with alcohol inks is fun and exciting; the vibrant colors, many approaches and happy accidents create verydynamic and interesting results.
